If you're craving an authentic taste of El Salvador right here in Long Beach, Pupuseria Salvadorena is your go-to destination. Nestled at 1336 W Willow St #102, this charming Salvadoran restaurant draws in both locals and visitors with its rich flavors, welcoming atmosphere, and commitment to quality.

Cuisine Type: Specializing in traditional Salvadoran fare, the star attraction at Pupuseria Salvadorena is, of course, their pupusas. These thick corn tortillas are lovingly stuffed with a variety of fillings, including gooey cheese, savory chicharron, and other delectable ingredients that create a burst of flavor in every bite.

While some customers like D. Cruz noted that the pupusas could benefit from a bit more chicharron, the consensus is clear: the pupusas are far from greasy and offer generous amounts of cheese. Amy S, a loyal patron for over 20 years, sings praises for their impeccable taste and freshness. “Best pupusas ever,” she declares, proving that this establishment has stood the test of time.

But the offerings don't stop at pupusas. Various customer reviews highlight the mouthwatering carne guisada and the complimenting revuelta beans, both of which are celebrated as favorites amongst regulars. Prices are reasonable, with pupusas starting around $3 each and breakfast plates around $11, making it accessible for everyone.

Dining Experience: While Pupuseria Salvadorena isn't a full-service restaurant, it fosters a cozy, clean, and casual dining environment. Patrons order at the cashier and then find a table to enjoy their meal once it's ready. This unique approach means that your meal is fresh and made to order, even if it occasionally results in a wait, as highlighted by customers like Liz Diaz, who encourages ordering in advance by phone. It’s all part of the charm!

From the moment you step in, you're enveloped in the warm scents of cooking, laughter, and friendly exchanges—it's a place where you can immerse yourself in vibrant Salvadoran culture while enjoying genuine hospitality.

With glowing reviews pouring in about the excellent service and quality of food, Pupuseria Salvadorena is a testament to the delights of Salvadoran cuisine. Whether you're a seasoned fan of pupusas or trying them for the first time, prepare for a satisfying experience that’ll have you eagerly planning your next visit!

Don't miss out on this local gem where flavor meets tradition. Bring your appetite and your patience; the wait will be worth it!

Good food. The pupusas weren't greasy and had a good amount of cheese but I felt like it could have used more chicharron. I called in the order and they told me 20 minutes. I showed up 30 minutes later, paid, and had to wait another 30 minutes for them to tell me that they were out of one of the items I ordered. The prices on menu pictures I posted are outdated; prices definitely have gone up but there items are the same. As of 5/11/2021 the pupusas cost 2.99 +tax.

I’ve been coming here about 20 plus years, best pupusas ever, not greasy at all! Takes a while to get your order because everything is fresh, but worth the wait. Suggest to order over the phone so when you arrive the food is ready.

Good Salvadoran food. Pupusas are $3 each and drinks prices vary depending on what you order. Breakfast plates like the ones in the picture are $11 not including drink. This isn't a sit and order place so don't expect waiter or waitress to come and check on you. You order your food at cashier area first, find a table and food will be placed on table you've chosen. It's not high end but it's clean and appearance is nice. Lots of Salvadoran culture paintings. Staff was nice always smiling. We were on vacation and came twice. Would definitely recommend.
